A bottomless portal. . .
Sometimes it’s hard to tell whether YouTube is just a video platform or a portal to a bottomless galaxy of content where time seizes to exist. Naturally with all that depth comes responsibility, thats why YouTube invited us to create a vision for “Forge”. A special event where we could help them stop time for a moment to think deeply about the best way to step into the future.
The voids in-between
The infinite expanse of content on YouTube can’t exist without structure.
A simple structure (a square) was sent back into space to see what a cascade of layers could communicate. As the idea evolved, more brand authenticity surfaced in the voids in-between than in the actual depth itself.
Threading the look.
An impactful lockup, collateral, stage design, on-screen content, and animation direction were just a few of the items that extended the look.

It all came alive in a very real way on the stage that the amazing Matt Gates interpreted from my crude pencil sketches and photoshop comps.
